Matinee performances at Canterbury are crammed with school children who practically fall off their chairs and drown out some of the dialogue with their enthusiastic cheering. Leila has proved to be a real 'darling' of the audience - a Panto where audience participation has reached unrivalled levels! The show has been rated the best pantomime in the South of England according to local journalists and was the Mirror readers Best Panto - it was completely sold out for the whole run weeks in advance. Advance publicity included a sail across to Calais with the cast in full costume and Leila turned on Christmas lights in Hearne Bay, Canterbury and Dover - sometimes accompanied by 'Buttons' - Peter Duncan (ex Blue Peter presenter). | |||

Marlowe ... (Kent Mercury - 12th January 2001 - ) While Cinderella continued to enchant audiences at the Marlowe Theatre Canterbury plans began for the next Christmas season. .. Cinderella starring Leila Birch and Daniel McPherson continued it's run until Saturday January 20th. Voted best pantomime in the country by the viewers of the Big Breakfast, Cinderella was the theatre's most successful pantomime of all time.
